Warranty-Backed Quality: The Good Housekeeping Seal Promise

Looking for certifications on roofing materials is one way of making sure you get your money’s worth. And it so happens that almost 50 products from GAF®, one of the biggest brands in the roofing industry, have been awarded the Good Housekeeping (GH) Seal.

But what makes the GH certification different from the hundreds already on the market? More importantly, what can it do for you as a consumer? Northwest Construction, your go-to contractor in the state for all your bathroom remodeling needs, elaborates further below.

A Background on the Good Housekeeping Institute

The Good Housekeeping Institute (GHI) evaluates products for Good Housekeeping magazine. The Institute has six labs for six product categories. GAF and other roofing manufacturers fall into the consumer engineering category.

GAF Shingles’ Exceptional Weather Resistance

The GHI’s engineering labs found that GAF shingles can withstand extreme weather conditions. GAF shingles with Advanced Protection were subjected to 185 tests that gauged its durability, longevity and weather resistance. And the shingles passed each one of them.

High-End Value-for-Money Shake Designs

The engineering labs also observed that GAF shingles can mimic more expensive slate shakes without compromising their performance or attractive price point.

100 Years of Service to Consumers

The GHI has been running tests like these for over 100 years now. Over the years, consumers have come to know the GH Seal as a mark of quality. The institute’s longevity and expertise was certainly a factor, but arguably, it’s the warranty that contributed most to the certification’s reputation.

A Warranty-Backed Guarantee of Quality

The GHI gives a two-year limited warranty to products with the GHI seal, provided that they’re sold by an authorized retailer. If consumers find product defects within the warranty period, Good Housekeeping will refund the original purchase cost.

GAF’s Exclusive Warranties

GAF roofing shingles and siding also come with an extended warranty, provided they’re installed by a GAF-certified contractor. So if you want to get your money’s worth, only hire GAF-certified contractors.
