Your Home Improvement and the Seasons

When you plan a home improvement project, you need to consider when to schedule it. Realistically, you will need to do maintenance and remodeling at least once a year. To make it work, you need to know the right weather and conditions for a successful project. Here’s what we know about each season in home improvement.

Fall

As one of the cooler seasons of the year, fall is an ideal time to get interior remodeling done. Projects like bathroom and kitchen remodeling are more affordable at this time of year, since there is less demand. However, days are generally shorter during this season, so each day of work is also shorter. It’s also getting close to the winter season, so contractors can be tricky to schedule.

Winter

While winter is the coldest season, it’s also the slowest, at least for home improvement contractors. However, it is best to reserve this season for interior projects. Having a kitchen remodel is easier than trying to fix the roof, since the weather at this time can be troublesome.

Spring

In terms of climate, spring is the best time for any exterior remodeling job. It’s just the right temperature after winter, and not as hot as it can get during the summer. However, it is also the time when roofing and siding projects are busiest and priciest, since other homeowners will most likely schedule around this time. You may use this time to catch up on any interior renovation as well, such as that bathroom remodeling project you’ve been putting off.

Summer

While the heat can be an issue, the longer days and warm weather makes it easier to work around summer.

Also, it’s the best season for any major project, since you can go on vacation with your family while the project is underway. For example, adding a new deck, replacing the roof or adding new siding might be a good summer project. The sealants and adhesives also dry up faster, so it hastens the installation.
